Work history

2009 (9 months): Master’s thesis work at VTT. Thesis title: Characterization of D-xylonic acid producing Kluyveromyces lactis and Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeasts.
2009 (2 months): Practical training at Laboratory of Tropical and Mediterranean Symbioses in Montpellier, France. Work concerning identification of genes involved in heavy metal resistance.
2008 (6 months): Trainee at the Department for Applied Chemistry and Microbiology, University of Helsinki. Investigation of the diversity of bacterial community compositions in Baltic Sea deep sediment.
2007 (3 months): Trainee at Graz Technical University, Austria. Work related to bacterial PHA production and enzymatic activation of PET surfaces.

Special competences

Metabolic engineering, bioprocess technology, molecular biology, bioinformatics.

Areas of interest

Bioconversions, yeasts and filamentous fungi, pH regulation, tolerance and homeostasis, physiological stress responses.
