 Science - effectiveness - potential of technology
Research on the effects of extreme weather impacts on European transport systems is under way
EU has launched a research project which studies the effects of extreme weather events on the safety and reliability of traffic systems. The EWENT project, which is coordinated by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, will also estimate the cost effects of weather-related disruptions. The project is motivated by the concern over the increase in extreme weather events caused by climate change.
European Institute of Technology ICT Unit coming to Finland on the Aalto University campus in Otaniemi
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is locating one of its information and communication technologies research units in Finland. The decision will enhance Finland’s position in EU information technology research and will facilitate the initiation of new research projects vital to European interests.

One of its specialised research areas is the harvesting of sugars from plant-based biomass for the production of biofuels and standard chemicals.
