Negative decision for VTT concerning liberty of speech

Finnish Parliamentary Ombudsman gave today decision in the case concerning VTT’s researchers’ liberty of speech, on December 15, 2011. The Ombudsman sees that VTT has violated the liberty of speech of two researchers.

The liberty to give statements is important and principled. It is very open to various interpretations, and VTT is pleased to have the Parliament Ombudsman’s alignments. The decision is detailed, processed in depth, and give’s strong base to VTT for specifying our instructions.

VTT will handle the case based on the decisions and its alignments.

VTT regrets to the case and give’s requested statement to the Ombudsman as soon as possible. VTT has also nominated a task force for specifying the instructions. In the task force employees are represented. The task force will specify guide lines following the alignments of the decision given by the Ombudsman.
