VTT and Ciba Specialty Chemicals: Printed electronics
Ciba Specialty Chemicals and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland have agreed to a new research collaboration in the field of organic electronics. The two-year multidisciplinary project focuses on the development of novel materials and processes for printing organic electronics and aims to open up new application areas. Major funding for the collaboration is provided by Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Research and Innovation.
Potential applications include ultra-thin OLEDs for displays and lighting, organic transistors, solar cells and sensors.

VTT and Bayer Schering Pharma AG: The mechanism of action of a new cancer drug
VTT has signed a twoyear contract on research collaboration with Bayer Schering Pharma AG regarding the studies on the mode of action of a new cancer drug developed by Bayer Schering Pharma AG. The research will be conducted at VTT by researchers of Medical Biotechnology. The work will utilize the new gene and cell biology methods developed by VTT.
The contract is an important initiative from VTT towards the international pharmaceutical industry, and is a part of VTT’s objectives in combining scientific and technology excellence to facilitate drug development processes. The project strengthens the aims of VTT to develop and market its core competencies worldwide.

VTT and Electricite de France: Nuclear power plant safety
VTT has signed a three-year contract on research collaboration with Electricite de France, one of the largest power companies in the world. Collaboration aims to enhance the safety of nuclear power plants and to extend their lifespan.
