Research background and current research topics
Maria has been involved in various projects related to open innovation and social media. In addition she leads VTT's open innovation research network, OpenVTT.
Maria holds two PhD degrees. The latest one she got from the Tampere University of Technology in May 2011. Her doctoral thesis concerned facilitating collaborative online innovation communities.
Maria finalised her first PhD studies at the University of Tampere on marketing in March 2007. In her first doctoral thesis Maria studied the attraction of company online communities from the relationship marketing perspective.
Maria has several publications on open innovation, online communities and social media.
