Research background and current research topics

Tuija Rantala (née Luoma) has worked at VTT since 1999 and her research topics have covered among others qualitative risk management methods in different contexts, uncertainty management in the innovation process, open innovation, intellectual property management, new business creation through mergers and acquisitions and commercialisation.

Previously she has worked several years with static electricity management, clean room technology and personnel safety in explosive hazardous environments. She has several years’ expertise in product development projects with companies from different business fields. She is the leader and one of the founder members of OpenVTT, open innovation research network at VTT.

Current research interests are focused particularly on new business creation through mergers & acquisitions (M&A), open innovation, intellectual property (IP) management and risk management
