Wind energy statistics in Finland

Wind power capacity in Finland is 288 MW, 162 wind turbines (at the end of 2012). Wind power production in 2012 was about 492GWh which is 0,6% of the Finnish electricity consumption.

At the end of 2011 there were 199 MW, 131 wind turbines in Finland. Wind power production in 2011 was about 481 GWh which is 0.6 % of the Finnish electricity consumption.

28.10.2012 there were 8911 MW of wind turbine projects published in Finland. The share of offshore projects planned is 2980 MW.

Failure statistics analysis

This Master thesis, written for VTT with funding from Tekes, contains an analysis of the wind turbine statistics. The wind turbine statistics in Finland comprise data on monthly production and downtime from grid connected turbines. Statistics of production have been compiled since 1992 and the failure statistics since 1996. The failure statistics between years 1996 and 2008 are examined and contains data from 72 wind turbines.
