Risk analysis of the Valio Haapavesi cheese manufacturing line to maintain level of production efficiency
Challenge: To analyse the production-related risks of the cheese manufacturing line in cooperation with the Valio Haapavesi factory experts and VTT. The results of the analysis aim to ensure the current production efficiency level for the next 10-year period.
Solution: Production risks were identified statistically, based on data obtained from the Valio maintenance data system and assessments of production equipment criticality performed in expert workshops. Emphasis in the workshops was on gathering information from the Valio staff members on the functionality of the production equipment.
Customer benefits: Definition of the grounds for repair investments regarding the production line and the timing of these repairs, and identification of targets of improvement maintenance and the means of utilising maintenance data as information for the continuous improvement of operations and in maintaining the production line, all emerged as a result of the project. In addition to these original goals, Valio experts and VTT researchers jointly identified a significant production bottle neck. By investing in its elimination, the goal is to achieve an additional annual cheese production volume of 5 million kilos.
