Knowledge intensive services
Digitalisation increases data volumes and improves availability. The amount of data to be managed is constantly growing − in companies, associations and for private individuals. We offer a comprehensive approach to the data management and refinement chain. The focus is in health, environment and commercial services.
The constant growth of data volumes can be turned into a benefit for a business if the company is able to manage and utilise accumulated data. By filtering and analysing data masses the data can be refined into know-how that can be used to provide advanced services.
VTT possesses vast expertises concerning data management needs, whether they are connected to business-to-business communication (B2B), electronic business between business and consumer (B2C) or consumer-to-consumer communication (C2C). In addition to data storage, analysis and refinement, our areas of expertise also include semantic solutions for data management including integration of heterogeneous data warehouses.
Our research is focused on three application areas, health, environment and commerce. We have invented, designed and implemented various innovative algorithms, applications and services within these areas.
There exists continuous demand for knowledge intensive services. As digitalisation is still the driving force in many areas and processes, huge amounts of data is produced and stored. At the same time new policies are introduces to open public databases for free usage. Example of this is the INSPIRE directive in EU. Future challenge is to mix different data sources with very heterogeneous data types together to create new models and analysis methods.
We have about 60 professionals developing knowledge intensive services. Expertise areas are data and text mining, signal and image processing and software development.
