Research reactor and BNCT

In order to develop Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) into a viable option for treating malignant brain tumours Helsinki University Central Hospital (HUCH) as the leading university hospital in Finland, and Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) as the operator of a nuclear research reactor have jointly established with their associates the Finnish BNCT Consortium.
New Finnish Epithermal Neutron Source is now available for International BNCT Research. As a part of the Finnish BNCT project the FiR 1 reactor in Otaniemi, Espoo, has been converted into a top level BNCT facility.
