From sensors to pilot applications
Our competence covers almost all areas of Vehicle ICT – from single sensors and sophisticated sensor data processing methods through vehicle bus systems to complex vehicle navigation and guidance solutions. We apply our comprehensive knowledge of Human-Machine Interface to vehicle design, and have extensive know-how in connecting vehicles to a fleet management or cooperative traffic system. We also offer pilot applications and testing.
A vehicle is a demanding application environment for ICT. Durability, reliability and cost-effectiveness are among the special requirements that must be set for hardware solutions. Embedded software solutions with a direct effect on vehicle safety must be efficient and carefully tested. At VTT we have all the necessary research facilities for high-grade research and development.
VTT’s long-term co-operation with European vehicle and mobile machine manufacturers and their subcontractors and other companies has led to the development of several leading solutions for real time friction sensing and communication between vehicles and other systems, V2V and V2I.
