Process chemistry pilot plants

Competence

The pilot plants specialised in process chemistry are located at Rajamäki and Otaniemi, both near Helsinki. The total plant area is 1500 m2, of which 300 m2 is Ex-classified. We offer a unique combination of multi-purpose pilot scale reactors and downstream processing units.

The pilot plants have excellent facilities for fast and efficient product development, and we are experienced in handling a wide variety of chemicals. Our customers include the polymer, specialty chemical, paper chemical, coating and pharmaceutical industries, thus a wide variety of tasks can be performed at our pilot plants. We also carry out process development and scale-up services to help our clients commercialize new products. You will find us a skilled, experienced and enthusiastic partner in helping you develop your business.

Research and scaling up of biomass-based materials and chemicals has been a major focus area already for more than 10 years. Another special feature is the relatively large-sized pilot plant equipment: multi-purpose reactors up to 2 m3 integrated with suitable downstream processing units (filters, ultrafiltration, evaporation, drying, etc.). More detailed information about the equipment is available in the brochure.

We can help

  • if a hypothesis needs to be tested
  • if a synthesis needs to be optimised
  • if a process needs to be scaled up or optimised
  • if empirical production data is required for the design of a new plant
  • if a product is required for test-marketing purposes
  • if you don’t have the personnel or equipment to do it all yourself.
