What is Circular Economy?
The linear "take-make-disposal" model of industrial operations is coming to its end, as the significant part of non-renewable resources are diminishing and the price volatility of natural resources is increasing. Current trends, as increasing consumption, new generation of consumers, urbanisation and employment, tightening legislation and technological leaps, accelerate the transformation towards CE.
CE will radically change the business environment opening at the same time huge global business potential for Finnish companies. According to Sitra's moderate estimation, CE will offer business potential of 1.5-2.5 milliard euros for Finnish economy by the end of 2030. Transformation from a linear economic model to a circular model needs significant changes and new organization of value chains. This opens new opportunities existing companies as well as new players. At the same time this will require significant changes in companies concerning both strategic thinking and operational processes.
