Work Packages

The following ​thermodynamic measurement approaches are studied in the work packages

WP1: Measurement of T–T90 over the temperature range from 430 K to 1358 K

  • Low temperature primary radiometry (505 K (Sn) – 1358 K)
  • High temperature acoustic gas thermometry (430 K (In) – 933 K)

Target standard uncertainty ~5 mK

WP2: Measurement of TT90 over the temperature range ~5 K to ~200 K

  • Dielectric constant gas thermometry Refractive index gas thermometry
  • Refractive index gas thermometry
  • Acoustic gas thermometry (~5 K – 200 K)

Target standard uncertainty ~0.5 mK

WP3: Novel Primary Thermometry

  • Novel optical methods to probe InK-1 primary radiometry at high temperatures
  • Double wavelength thermometry (430 K – 2750 K)
  • Radiation thermometry traceable to syncrotron radiation (1358 K (Cu) – 2750 K)
  • Novel Doppler broadening thermometry to probe T around the triple point of water
    (234 K (Hg) – 430 K (In))

WP4: Primary low-temperature thermometry

  • Current sensing noise thermometry
  • Coloumb blockade thermometry
  • Magnetic field fluctuation thermometry (0.02 K – 0.0009 K)

WP5: Creating Impact

The aim of this work package is to establish means for effective exploitation for the project outcomes

  • ensuring a seamless transition to the new kelvin throughout the world
  • facilitating the take up of the developments by the measurement supply chain.
