4 March 2015
ecobim Final Event took place in Helsinki on 25 February 2015. Kindly hosted by buildingSMART Finland, the event presented the main results and findings of ecobim project with a particular emphasis on the business opportunities for eco-innovation identified and developed by the partners. The participants represented the main target groups defined by ecobim (policy makers, practitioners from both SMEs and large companies, users and researchers) which created a very vivid discussion. Thanks to all of them for their interest and feedback!

ecobim partners hosted a Special Session on
"Eco-Innovation in Value Driven Sustainable Building Processes - Need for New Business Models, Opportunities for SMEs" during WSB14 Barcelona Conference (28-30 October 2014). The objective of the session was to discuss the opportunities for eco-innovation identified by ecobim project and developed through real case studies in Finland, France and Germany.

During the conference, ecobim partners held a project meeting on 30 October 2014.

Another ecobim meeting of the partners took place in Copenhagen on 18 September 2014 in parallel to the
Final ECO-INNOVERA Conference: Boosting Eco-Innovation through Cooperation in Research and Development (17-18 September 2014) where ecobim partners shared with the participants the main findings of the project.

The paper "
Eco-innovative construction business models for social development" was presented in the 24th Annual RESER Conference titled Services and New Societal Challenges: Innovation for Sustainable Growth and Welfare that took place in Helsinki (11-13 September 2014) and published in the conference proceedings. RESER (The European Association for REsearch on SERvices) is a network of research groups and individuals active in services research and policy formulation, mainly located in European countries.

ecobim paper focuses on the findings of the methodology followed in the workshops to develop eco-innovative services for social development and their corresponding business models, seen from the perspective of service research theory and in terms of service development.

The Finnish partners in ecobim project, VTT and Arkkitehtitoimisto Tiuri & Lommi Oy, have organized a workshop with stakeholders to validate and weight the eco-indicators proposed by ecobim, and collect recommendations for policy makers that will be still further developed. The workshop, hosted by VTT, was attended by representatives of the following organizations:

Another ecobim meeting of the partners was held on 5 June 2014, whereas the 3rd meeting of the Advisory Board was held on 6 June 2014. Both took place in Espoo. Our project is now moving towards its final phase.

In collaboration with Mattliden School in Espoo and SYKE, the Finnish Environment Institute, ecobim has organized the third workshop on eco-innovation and social development focusing on the creation of services for the youth. The workshop took place in Mattliden School on 13 May 2014. The students became entrepreneurs for a day and worked on innovative services, businesses and spaces for the youth that are environmentally friendly and economically viable. Thanks to our young participants for their fresh ideas!

Our workshops with stakeholders continue. Phase 2 of our first co-creation workshop around eco-innovation has been held online making use of Owela platform. The outcome will be still developed further during Phase 3, the final stage of the workshop to take place in Berlin soon. In addition to the previous, after the good results obtained during the first evening of our workshop with users on eco-innovation and social development, a second evening was organized on 10 March 2014 to further develop the ideas selected during the first evening. Thanks to the stakeholders for their collaboration!

In collaboration with Artova (Arabianranta Neighbourhood Association), ecobim will organize the second workshop on eco-innovation and social development focusing on the user experience. The workshop is planned to take place in two evenings in Arabianranta neighbourhood in Helsinki. The first evening will be on 30 January 2014. Here you can find the invitations in English and Finnish. More information on the outcome will be published later on both on this website and on ecobim’s networking platform.

The last ecobim meeting of the partners was held on 22 November 2013, whereas the meeting of ecobim Advisory Board was held on 20 November 2013. Both took place in Espoo (Finland).

ecobim Deliverables D1.1. Analysis of present construction business models in relation to eco-innovation, D1.2 Ecobim framework for sustainable eco-innovative construction business models and D5.2 Dissemination plan (living document) were released on 19 November 2013. In collaboration with White Lobster agency for sustainable communication based in Germany, ecobim will organize the first co-creation workshop around eco-innovation with stakeholders representing ecobim’s main target groups. The workshop is planned to have 3 phases. Phase 1 will take place live in Espoo (Finland), while Phase 2 will most likely be carried out online through ecobim’s networking platform and Phase 3 will be held in Germany. More information on the outcome of the workshop will be published later both on this website and on ecobim’s networking platform.

In addition to the meeting, the scientific paper “ecobim – Value driven life cycle based sustainable business models” will be presented in Session 4.4 Sustainability – The Economic Dimension.
