Virginia Janssens, Managing Director, EUROPEN
Virginia Janssens is Managing Director for the European Organization for
Packaging and the Environment (EUROPEN) since July 2012. EUROPEN, based in the
European Union capital Brussels, is an industry and trade organization open to
any company with an economic interest in packaging. Its membership is a
virtual “who’s who” of global packaging value chain companies dedicated to
satisfactorily resolving the environmental challenges facing the packaging
chain in an active and co-operative manner without favouring any specific
packaging material or packaging system.
Prior to joining EUROPEN in January 2010 as EU Affairs Manager, Ms Janssens
acquired considerable experience in the Brussels arena working both as a
public affairs and public relations consultant for various clients coming from
the environment, food, chemical and energy sectors.
Tuomas Mustonen, Vice President, Business Solutions, VTT
As a customer director Tuomas Mustonen is in charge of the overall sales and
marketing activities, business development and key account management of the
Chemical Industry and Environment segments. In Dec 2012 Mr Mustonen completed
his MBA (majoring in international finance) at Aalto University. In addition,
he has a M.Sc. in industrial physics.
Mr. Mustonen has more than 10 years of experience from industrial R&D and
commercialization of technologies, project management, sales and marketing,
finance and accounting, strategic planning.
He has technical experience in biobased packaging, bioplastics, pulp & paper &
board and biorefinery industries, nanotechnology and brand protection.
Ian Rooney, Director, PACKLAB
Ian Rooney leads PACKLAB a Branded Packaging Design and Innovation company. It
is the worlds first all educated packaging design team who's 'joined-up
product thinking' is changing the way people look at packaging. PACKLAB's
clients include some of the smallest and biggest companies in the world.
Ian is recognised as a leading branded packaging innovator, practitioner,
speaker and educator. Born in Ireland, educated in England and now resident in
Finland, Ian has been honored and awarded for his contribution to the industry
and education around the world.
Bastiaan Schupp, Legislative Officer, European Commission
Since mid-2011 Bastiaan Schupp is a legislative officer at DG Health &
Consumers of the European Commission. He joined the Commission in 2005 at DG
Joint Research Centre in Ispra, Italy, as a scientific officer. In Ispra he
worked on various risk related topics, including societal vulnerability to
dangerous chemicals and man-made risks. Before joining the Commission he build
experience on chemical safety and risk management in academia (Delft (NL) and
York (UK)). He is trained as a chemical engineer.
Jarkko Tuominen, Vice President, Business Development, Metsä Board
Jarkko Tuominen (M.Sc.) studied paper technology at Helsinki University of
Technology and has been working in paper and packaging related industry for
over 20 years. Before joining Metsä Board, Tuominen has held several top
management positions in management consulting as well as in paper and
packaging industry in Ahlstrom, Sihl, Pöyry and Walki.
