The Suomenlinna, Sveaborg fortress was built during the Swedish era as a maritime fortress and a base for the archipelago fleet. Work on the fortress was begun in the mid-18th century on the five rocky islands situated just off Helsinki in the Gulf of Finland. The project was the largest and most expensive one in Europe in those days. Today, Suomenlinna is a UNESCO World heritage site and one of Helsinki's most popular tourist attractions.

The origins of Tallinn date back to the 13th century when a castle was built there. The settlement quickly grew into a busy port, and Tallinn became a major centre of the Hanseatic League, a chain of European trading cities. Arabia is a famous brand of Finnish design porcelain homeware and tableware since the 1870's.
On this tour you will visit the Arabia
Porcelain museum and factory. The tour starts with a glass of sparkling
wine followed by the factory visit. Nowadays the dishes are made of stoneware.
You will see how the raw material is moulded into plates, cups and bowls.
You'll also see how some of the dishes are painted or decorated with stickers
and then glazed and burned in high temperatures. Most of the work is done by
machines but handicraft is still needed in the process.
After the visit, you have time to explore the Arabia shop for souvenirs.
Return transfer to the hotel is included.
