Bacteria "Pectinatus haikarae" named after Docent Auli Haikara
VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland has proved with the modern DNA-based
methods that there are three new species among Pectinatus and Megasphaera
strains that spoil beer. The names of recently found species are Pectinatus
haikarae, Megasphaera sueciensis and Megasphaera paucivorans. The bacteria
Pectinatus haikarae has been named after Docent Auli Haikara, pioneer in the
Pectinatus research who has made a long-term carrier at VTT.
