Photonic and Optomechanical Sensors for Nanoscaled and Quantum Thermometry


Metrological validation of photonic and optomechanical thermometers 

The aim of this work package is to develop methods for the metrological validation of photonic and optomechanical thermometers, which will be done by calibration of the developed mesoscopic sensors traceable to the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90) and evaluation of the uncertainty. This aim requires several subtasks previous to the actual calibration.

In the first task, the thermostats will be designed and fabricated to provide an environment that enables the comparison of the new temperature sensors and the established standard platinum resistance thermometers (SPRTs). In the second task, systematic effects of photonic and optomechanical thermometers which influence temperature measurement will be evaluated. In the third task, the final calibration of the new thermometers will provide traceability to the established temperature scale and, in the case of the optomechanical thermometers it will allow the comparison of their performance as primary sensors of the thermodynamic temperature, with respect to the temperature defined by the ITS-90.
